Our hidden hanger 3" screw actually screws into the wood and into your rafter tail. If you compare a gutter spike to a hidden hanger, the gutter spike does not grab the wood because most gutter spikes have a smooth nail head. Another reason we like the hidden hangers are, they are stronger than a gutter spike and you also can't see them from the face of the gutter unlike a gutter spike. So aesthetically, your gutters look nice and you won't have to worry about those gutter spikes pulling loose anymore.
